Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain has issued directives to constitute a special investigation team comprising of departmental officers and officers of Accounts and Audit for the assessment of financial position of Almora Nagar Palika. He also directed the Urban Development Department to form a Task Force to conduct surprise inspection of works undertaken by Nagar Palika. He instructed the department to chalk out action plan to further strengthen the financial position of Nagar Palikas.
Chief Secretary, in a meeting held at Secretariat on Thursday said that Nagar Palikas ought to increase their sources of revenue and strengthen their financial positions. He said that it was a matter of grim concern that Nagar Palikas had greater expenditure than income which led to financial constrains. Mr. Jain asserted that Nagar Palikas should increase their revenue resources and maintain financial discipline.
Chief Secretary Jain said that the Investigation Team would assess the past four years works of Almora Nagar Palika and submit report on how the Palika could increase its revenue resources. He said that executive officers and full time workers should be deputed in Nagar Palikas to ensue their proper functioning. He also issued directives to send request to the Public Service Commission if any post had to be filled through PSC.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Finance Radha Raturi, Additional Secretary Finance MC Joshi, Additional Secretary Urban Development Radhika Jha and other officers.
