Initiate the process of establishing Sainik School at Jakholi in Rudraprayag District Soldiers Welfare Department 3 July 2012:Dr. Harak Singh Rawat

Soldiers' Welfare Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat has directed the officers concerned to initiate the process of establishing Sainik School at Jakholi in Rudraprayag District and hold meeting with the Forest Department for the formation of four Eco-Task Force Companies.
Dr. Rawat chairing the meeting of Directorate Solders' Welfare and Rehabilitation on Tuesday directed the officers to initiate the process of establishing the Sainik School on war footing and to prepare concrete action plan for the formation of Eco-Task Force companies for conservation of forest and environment. He instructed Secretary and Director Soldiers Welfare to hold meeting with the Forest Department Officers in this regard. The officers of the Directorate Soldiers Welfare apprised the Minister about the activities and achievements of the Soldiers' Welfare Department and various problems pertaining to the ex-servicemen was discussed. He also enquired about the progress of Uttarakhand Sainik Punarvas Sansthan and UPNL and assured to take all possible steps to redress problems of soldiers in the state.
Dr. Rawat expressed his satisfaction over various welfare schemes being run for the ex-servicemen and their dependents. He said that he too belonged to the family of a soldier; hence he was much aware of their problems. He said that their welfare would always remain in his priority list. Dr. Rawat asked the Soldier Welfare Officers to have more sensitive approach towards ex-soldiers and serve them not as an officer but as  social workers. He directed to immediately start recruitment through UPNL and speed up the process of land allocation for construction of UPNL Headquarter.
Also present in the meeting were Secretary, Soldiers' Welfare and Rehabilitation Bhaskaranand Joshi and Brigadier (Retd.) AN Bahuguna.
