Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain took stock  of the situation at Uttarkashi including relief operation through video  conferencing at Secretariat on Tuesday. The Principal Secretaries and  Secretaries obtained their respective progress reports from District Magistrate  Uttarkashi R Rajesh Kumar.
Chief Secretary Jain said that two helicopters  had been received from Air Force for relief operation. These choppers would  take food packets from Sahastradhara Helipad and distribute in disaster hit  areas.  Doctor's team and medicines had  been dispatched in state helicopter to worst hit area Gajauli at Sangamchatti.  Mr. Jain directed the officers to arrange for temporary power supply. Four  Inflated Lights and two generators had been sent. He said that the electricity  was also being supplied through UREDA. The Engineers of power department had  been directed not to leave the headquarters. Around 85 villages were affected  as transmission lines were damaged in several places. The Disaster Management  Team has also reached Gajouli.
          Mr.  Jain said that order has been passed to dispatch 5 Sub district Magistrates and  Tehsildars for rescue and relief works. 15 km long Sangamchatti- Gajouli Road has been  damaged which has directly affected 8 villages. Superintendent Engineer has  been asked to camp there and ensure repair of the road at the earliest. The  Transport Department has made available requisite vehicles at Chinyalisound and  RTO Uttarkashi and Tehri had been directed to provide vehicles as per the  requirements.
The meeting was attended by Principal  Secretary to Chief Minister DK Kotia, Principal Secretary Civil Aviation Rakesh  Sharma, Principal Secretary Health and Medical Ranvir Singh, Principal  Secretary PWD S Raju, Secretary Information MH Khan, Secretary to CM SS Sandhu,  Secretary Transport Umashankar Panwar, DGP Vijay Raghav Pant and other senior officers.
