National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world raised in 1948, celebrated its 65th anniversary on 24 Nov 2013 with traditional fervour.
At Headquarters level the raising day function was marked by paying homage at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate to the martyrs of the Indian Defence forces who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of 17 Directorates of the NCC throughout the Country, Cadets, Associated NCC Officers and the three services. DG NCC Lt Gen PS Bhalla, and selected NCC Cadets laid wreath on behalf of the entire NCC fraternity.
The NCC raising day is also celebrated in all state Capitals, where cadets participate in march past, cultural activities and social development programmes.
NCC has always been at the forefront of contribution towards social causes and community development activities.
The cadets in the past have done the nation and the organisation proud by their remarkable achievements in the fields of sports and adventure and have won laurels in the National Shooting and Equestrian competitions.
