PSUs under the Ministry of Steel namely SAIL, NMDC, RINL, MSTC, MOIL, KIOCL, MECON and OMDC contributed Rs. 20 Crore, Rs. 20 Crore, Rs. 4 Crore, Rs. 2.6 Crore, Rs.1.5 Crore, Rs. 1 Crore, Rs.0.5 Crore and Rs.0.4 Crore respectively.
While handing over the cheque, Minister of Steel expressed his condolence over the loss of life caused by the calamity.
He also assured that the Nation and the Ministry of Steel in particular stand with the people of Orissa in these hours of turmoil and loss. Shri Verma assured continuing support and assistance to the state.
The contributions made today are in addition to other CSR and sustainability activities to be undertaken by the Central Public Sector Enterprises under the Ministry of Steel in the calamity affected areas.
The cheque was received from the Minister of Steel by Shri J.K. Mohapatra, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha on behalf of the State Government, in the presence of the Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Shri G. Mohan Kumar, Joint Secretaries of the Ministry and CMDs of PSUs under the Ministry.
