Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has expressed his gratitude towards the Central Government for approving 300 MW Lakhwad Hydro-power Project on River Yamuna. He has expressed his hope that the project would be instrumental in providing Uttarakhand relief from power shortage in future. He said that Centre, without any delay, ought to approve other non controversial hydro-power projects too.
It may be noted that Chief Minister Bahuguna had, in the past, called on Prime Minister and Union Energy Minister and urged them to consider the power requirement of Uttarakhand and approve at the earliest the non controversial hydro-power projects.
