BJP leaders seek resignation of BJP President Gadkari


New Delhi:(Page3 News Network/Newsonair)-The political crisis in BJP seems to have deepened with senior party leaders seeking resignation of the BJP President, Nitin Gadkari following corruption charges. Senior BJP leader, Ram Jethmalani told reporters that Mr. Gadkari should resign from the post in the interest of the party and the country. He claimed that three other senior leaders including Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinha are with him on the issue. He added that he has written a letter to Mr. L.K.Advani and BJP President on the issue.
The BJP top brass is meeting in New Delhi later this evening to discuss the political situation.The meeting is taking place after the demand of Gadkari's removal from the party post gained momentum. Mr. Gadkari met senior party leaders Mrs. Sushma Swaraj and Mr. Arun Jaitley today to discuss the situation.
Later Mrs. Sushma Swaraj has come out in support to Gadkari. In a tweet she said she rnews her support to the BJP President. 
Earlier Gadkari landed himself in trouble on Sunday when he reportedly comparted Swamy Vivekananda with Dawood Ibhrahim in Bhopal.Though he has regretted and denied the remark attributed to him, Congress today sought an apology from the BJP leader for the grave mistake. Party leader Digvijay Singh also questioned the silence maintained by the saffron party on the issue.
